A MESSAGE FROM DOC WAYNE
Doc Wayne is deeply grateful to the Shuley Cup for bringing together champions in the community who believe in the healing power of sports. Your support over the past two years has helped us reach hundreds of kids who would not otherwise be able to access or afford mental health care. This support is critical at a time when the need has never been greater. More than one in four middle school students in Massachusetts report feeling persistently sad or hopeless, and nearly one in five have considered suicide. For youth of color, the rates are even higher, showing the deep inequities and barriers to care in our communities.

Doc Wayne meets this need by bringing therapy into places where kids already feel comfortable: gyms, classrooms, and playgrounds. Through our Chalk Talk® group therapy program, youth build trust with their therapists while playing sports, learning to manage emotions, strengthen relationships, and find their voice. Our Therapeutic Recess program creates structured play that supports social-emotional growth and helps us identify kids who may need further care. For those needing more intensive help, our Community Clinic provides individual and family therapy. Together, these programs reduce stigma, remove barriers, and give kids the chance to feel seen, supported, and connected. Sports make this work possible. The familiar rhythm of a game helps kids open up in ways traditional therapy sometimes can’t. In every huddle, scrimmage, and team check-in, our clinicians weave in therapeutic practices that help youth heal from trauma, build resilience, and rediscover joy.

Thanks to your generosity, the Shuley Cup has already made a life-changing difference for hundreds of kids. With your help, we’ve expanded our therapy services, hired new clinicians, and reduced wait times so more youth can get care when they need it most. Each dollar raised helps us reach more kids at a time when so many are struggling. With your continued support, we can ensure that every young person has the chance to receive the care they deserve and the hope of a brighter future.

Thank you for being part of this effort. Together, we are changing lives through the power of sports.
